Ch 16
~Lunch~
Ron was sitting there enjoying his sandwich when he felt a hand on his shoulder; he turned around and saw Leila.
Ron: Hungry?
Leila: I’m starving.
Ron: Want a bite?
Leila: If you don’t mind.
Ron brought the sandwich to her mouth, where she then took a bite.
Leila: It’s good.
Ron: It has my spit in it, doesn’t that make it extra special and delicious.
Leila started laughing: You wish!
Ron smiled: Are you going to stand there or sit down?
Leila walked around the couch and sat down beside Ron.
Leila: What are you doing after work?
Ron: I have dinner plans with Linda and…o shit!
Leila: What’s wrong?
Ron: I kind have told Tavia I’ll be joining her this evening at a concert when I already made plans with Linda.
Leila: good job Ron!
Ron: Can’t you help me?
Leila: I helped you out with all of your love troubles…
Ron: So is that a yes?
Leila gave him a sly smile: It means that this time you have to solve your own.
Ron: Come on. (He put his arm around her shoulder)
Leila: Your little moves don’t work on me. (She took his arm off her shoulder)
Ron: Leila…(he made that puppy face that could melt anyone’s heart)
Leila looked at him, she knew that she couldn’t possibly say no to that but she had to. She helped him out of almost every situation and it was time for him to deal with his own troubles even though she really liked helping him. Pretending to be his girlfriend was always fun to do cause not only was he extra sweet but he was also very romantic with the long walks on the beach, watching the sunset and sometimes they would just sit and talk until the sun rises.
Leila: Sorry, I can’t help you. (She walked away)
Ron: Ok…I guess I no longer have any importance in your heart…
Hearing those words really got to her, because she knew that Ron along with her brothers were the most important people in her life. Sometimes, just sometimes she would think that she liked him because she would be touched by all the things he does.
Leila walked back over to him and gave him a peck on the cheek.
Leila: Don’t feel bad, I remember when I was little, whenever I was sad a little boy would kiss me on my cheek and make all my troubles go away.
Hearing that Ron smiled. It was true her kiss did make him feel better, but he still had to find a way to solve his problem. He then saw Raymond walking over and boy was he happy.
Ron walked over to Raymond, placed his arm over his shoulder.
Ron: Buddy!
Raymond: I don’t like it when you’re so close.
Ron: We’re good pals right?
Raymond: I hate it when you ask that question. What do you want?
Ron: Well…I’m in a bit of trouble.
Raymond: What did you do now? And why isn’t Leila helping you?
Ron: She said I have to deal with them myself so I decided to seek for your help.
Raymond: This is why it sucks being your friend. You’re too nice so you always get into this kind of mess.
Ron: Well unlike you, your mess usually involves…
Raymond: You don’t have to continue, I’ll help you.
Ron: Yes!!!
Raymond: what do you want me to do?
Ron: Well tonight I made dinner plans with Linda…
Raymond: Nice, you’re going to her place?
Ron: Ya…
Raymond: wow, you two are quick
Ron: It’s not what you’re thinking about, anyways, I also made plans with Tavia.
Raymond: Two girls one night…you’ve out done yourself.
Ron: Shut up and listen.
Raymond: chill man
Ron: Well I was wondering if you could go with Tavia for me?
Raymond: All right, just like before.
Ron: Ya.
Raymond: she’s not going to be happy about this.
Ron: Well, I have to have dinner with Linda…
Raymond: Cause you like her
Ron: Cause I made plans with her first.
Raymond: Whatever.
Ron: So, you’re gonna go for me with Tavia?
Raymond: Sure. But I’m only doing this cause we’re good pals.
Ron: Thanks man.
Raymond: No problem.
~That evening~
Ron and Linda took off, went to the store got all the food needed and went to Linda’s house.
Linda searched through her pockets and bag for her keys.
Linda: O shoot!
Ron: What is it?
Linda: I forgot my keys.
Ron: Where?
Linda: At home (looking at the ground)
Ron started laughing: Luckily you’re not a surgeon
Linda: Why is that?
Ron: You could leave something in your patient. (He continued laughing)
Linda: It’s not funny
~Over at the Concert Hall~
Tavia stood there looking glamorous in her black evening gown. She was expecting to see the man of her dreams until she saw…him.
Raymond handing her a rose: I wanted to let this rose see what true beauty is.
Tavia: You and your lame pick up lines.
Raymond: Aw man. It doesn’t work again.
Tavia: Why is it that whenever I ask Ron out, you’re here?
Raymond: Honey, we were meant to be. (He started laughing)

I hope you enjoyed it!!!

The Reason: Ch 15
Ch 15
After dinner with Ron’s favourite family of all time, he said his farewells and went home. It began to rain as he was driving home listening to music and just thinking about life in general he saw a figure that looked very familiar coming out of the Seven Eleven. She didn’t have a jacket with her nor an umbrella, being the nice guy Ron was he stopped the car right beside her.
The young lady was surprised that someone would actually stop the car for her when she turned to look it was Ron. He came out of the car took off his jacket and placed it on her shoulders.
Ron: Don’t catch a cold. The patients at the hospital need you.
The young lady smiled at him gracefully not saying a word. She finally saw the reason why so many people like him. It wasn’t because he was a successful doctor who makes lots of money but it was the fact that he was a sweet, caring and gentle guy.
Ron opened the car door for her and insisted her to get home. Once she got on the car, Ron slammed the door shut and got in as well. The drive to her place was as quiet as it can be. If he didn’t glance at her making sure she didn’t fall asleep he would’ve thought that she did. Once they arrived at her place, Ron got out of the car and opened the door for her. She looked at him and smiled. He then walked her in to make sure that she would get home safely. Since he no longer had his jacket, the rain soaked his clothes and hair enhancing his features even more. She invited him to her place but he rejected her offer seeing that it was already getting late.
~Next day at the hospital~
Ron sat in his chair spinning around doing basically nothing except for stopping to sip his coffee once in a while. His shift usually begins at nine and seeing how it’s only 8:30 he had plenty of time to relax. As he was gradually spinning he saw Linda come in.
Ron immediately stopped the chair so that his interim wouldn’t see how childish he really is even though she should have realized that by now.
Ron: Morning!
Linda: Thank you! (Waving a white envelope that she has in her hand)
Ron: What’s that?
Linda: Well, this morning Bobby (head of the hospital) told me how they’ve looked over my information and with your recommendation they approved. Which means that I wouldn’t have to drive for so long to get to work.
Ron: Hey, it’s the least I can do.
Linda: I don’t know how to repay you. How about dinner? Tonight? I’ll cook.
Ron: Sure, as long as I don’t end up in the ER I’m fine with it.
Linda started laughing: My cooking isn’t bad and don’t worry I won’t poison you.
Ron: So, dinner at your place tonight then?
Linda: But first you have to drive me to buy the stuff.
Ron: I knew there was a catch.
Linda smiled and went out. Ron soon followed her because it was 8:55.
Ron: Hey wait up!
Linda turned around and saw Ron walking towards her.
Ron: What’s the hurry?
Linda: I’m not the one who’s huffing and puffing.
Ron: Well I was trying to catch up to you. Did anyone ever tell you, you walk really fast?
Linda: Maybe you’re just slow. (She continued to walk off)
Ron: Fine then if you can walk so fast then you wouldn’t need this approval. (He snatched the letter out of her hand)
Linda: Give it back!
She began chasing after him. The other staffs in the hospital were surprised at how childish they were.
Raymond: Dude, what’s the hurry?
Ron: Get out of my way.
Linda placed her hand on Ron’s shoulder: Gotcha!
Ron: All your fault man.
Raymond: I didn’t know you two were playing around if I did…
Linda: Now you can give it back.
Ron: Fine.
As Linda walked away Ron was still standing there.
Raymond: Seems to me that you two are really getting along.
Ron: Well, she’s a really nice person.
Raymond: Interested?
Ron: I don’t know, not right now anyways. I got to go. I’ll see you later? Lunch?
Raymond: Go after her! (He smiled) Okay, Lunch.
Ron walked off and downstairs to the ER.
An old man was sitting patiently and waiting for his turn for his monthly check up. Ron recognized him at once seeing the man.
Ron: Mr. Chan!
Mr. Chan: Doctor Ng is it my turn yet?
Ron: Sure, come on in. (He helped the man walk into the examination room)
Ron: So have you been eating any of those fatty foods?
Mr. Chan: Of course not! I’d listened to you.
Ron: well, we’ll have to do a blood test to see if your cholesterol is regulated.
Mr. Chan rolled up his sleeve and sat there patiently as Ron told Tavia to do the blood test.
Tavia went over, greeted the old man then performed the blood test. After it was complete she smiled and walked away.
Mr. Chan: That didn’t hurt one bit Doctor.
Ron: Well, that’s because Tavia is a very good nurse.
Mr. Chan: You like her?
Ron: We’re just friends.
Mr. Chan: I almost forgot, you like that other person, what was her name…L-l-Linda?
Ron: She’s just an interim Mr. Chan.
Mr. Chan: Sure she is. Well, are you going to do any other tests or am I good to go?
Ron: You’re good.
Mr. Chan: Bye Doctor, and say goodbye to your girlfriend for me. (He winked, and walked away)
Ron stood there laughing at the old man who thinks Ron likes every woman he encounters.
~At the front desk~
Claire: Go talk to him.
Tavia: He’s busy
Claire: No he isn’t. Go! (she pushed Tavia)
Tavia then walked over to Ron.
Tavia: Hey!
Ron: Hi, Mr. Chan said you’re really good at performing blood tests
Tavia: thanks.
Ron: Don’t thank me; he’s the one that complimented you.
Tavia slightly blushed talking to the man of her dreams.
Tavia: I was wondering if you’re not doing anything tonight if you’d like to go to this concert with me. I think it’s a tribute to Beethoven, seeing how you enjoy classical music, I was wondering if you’d be interested.
Ron: I’d love to.
Tavia was really excited for this was the first time that she successfully asked him out.
Tavia: Well, dress nicely and I’ll meet you there.
She walked away smiling, her smile was just so radiant, even a blind person could see that she was in love.

The Reason: Ch 14
Hey,
Sorry for the delay...I've been a bit busy with midterms and stuff. Enjoy!
==============================
While the two guys were having their little conversation Leila went to her room and got changed. Leila came out and heard Bosco laughing.
Leila: What’s so funny?
Ron: He’s laughing at you.
Leila: What did I do?
Ron started laughing: He says that you’re changing because you don’t want to burst a button. (He continued to laugh)
Leila: Is that true Bosco? (She marched into the kitchen)
Bosco: Who would you listen to, your own brother or (he whispers in her ear) your secret crush?
Leila formed a fist and punched him on the arm.
Bosco: What was that for?
Leila: That’s for being like those nosy ladies in the fish market.
Bosco: So it’s true?
Leila punched him again: No!
Bosco: Fine!
Leila went out of the kitchen and saw Ron sitting there staring blankly at the ceiling. She walked over and sat next to him.
Leila: What are you thinking about?
Ron: You.
Leila: Why me?
Ron: I was thinking about how ugly you would look when you’re old. (He bursts into laughter)
Leila: hmph…
Ron: I was joking. I was thinking about stuff.
Leila: What stuff?
Ron: like what you said when you were little.
Leila: What did I say?
Ron: The treasure at the end of the rainbow. I remember you use to make me run with you to find it.
A smile appeared on Leila’s face.
Leila: You still remember?
Ron: You made me run 2 whole kilometers. What do you think?
She started laughing seeing his facial reaction. As she was laughing Kevin came home.
Leila: Kevin, you’re home!
Kevin: I told you I’d be home whenever Bosco cooks.
Bosco came out of the kitchen.
Bosco: Bro, you’re home.
Kevin: If you cook everyday I’ll be home everyday.
Bosco started laughing and went back into the kitchen.
Kevin: Hey Ron, is Leila bothering you again?
Ron: I’m use to it.
Kevin started laughing seeing how his sister was glaring at him.
Kevin: Ok, well I have to go and get changed. Leila stop bothering Ron. (He continued to laugh)
Leila: why must my brothers always pick on me?
Ron: After all you ARE the youngest.
Leila: that would mean that they should take care of my like I’m the biggest diamond in the world.
Bosco overheard her.
Bosco yelling from the kitchen: You are! But you’re still unpolished.
Leila: See what I mean.
Ron: At least you got brothers.
Leila: Sorry.
Ron: That’s okay.
Bosco came out of the kitchen and was towering over Ron and Leila.
Bosco: Where’s Raymond?
Leila: I don’t know. Ron drove me home.
Bosco: He’s probably off somewhere getting someone’s digits.
Ron: Speaking of the devil.
Raymond opened the door and walked in.
Raymond: Hey! Everyone’s home! Cool! Let’s Eat!
Bosco: All right. Since everyone is here, we can finally eat. I’ll go get the food.
Ron: I’ll help.
Bosco: Thanks.
Ron: No problem man.
The two of them walked into the kitchen and brought out in total 9 main dishes and a soup.
Kevin came out of his room to the smell of exquisite food.
Kevin: I think you’ve finally outdone yourself bro.
Bosco: Thanks.
Raymond: I swear who ever will marry you will be the luckiest woman on earth.
Leila: Bosco is the nicest guy ever and plus he can cook so well who wouldn’t like him.
Ron: I swear if I weren’t straight Bosco would be my first target.
Everyone started laughing.
Bosco: Stop with the flattering. It’s not like I’m charging you for this dinner.
Ron: Dude, you deserve every single one of those compliments. You’re such a modest guy.
Bosco: well, you’re not too bad yourself.
Ron: Really?
Bosco: I think so and Leila does too right Leila? (He nudged her while she was struggling to chew that Chinese broccoli.
Leila: ya.
Ron started laughing.
Kevin: Finally a dinner with everyone. It’s been like a month now.
Leila: So what HAVE you been busy doing?
Kevin: Lots of stuff in many different places.
Bosco: At least you get to travel.
Raymond: and check out those very attractive flight attendants.
Ron: he’s not like you.
Kevin: Well, I did meet this very nice flight attendant.
Raymond: We’re brothers what do expect?
Kevin: She even gave me her number but I didn’t have time to call her.
Leila: well you should call her and talk to her.
Kevin: She probably forgot.
Raymond: How can anyone forget such a good-looking guy? I swear good-looks runs in the family.

The Reason: Ch 13
Ch13
Raymond’s thoughts
The two of them are still so childish. I swear they’re meant to be. Like who in there twenties would enjoy spinning around on a chair? Both of them are so naïve. I can’t believe Ron after all he’s been through still hasn’t grown up. Maybe that’s why so many people like him. His attitude towards things is not so complicated and he can put a smile on anyone’s face. But I’m not bad myself; good-looking with a stable career, then again I’m still single. That doesn’t matter as long as I still got my family and my best bud Ron it’s all good.
~Ron’s office~
Leila was laughing: You can stop now. I think I’m dizzy.
Ron quickly stopped the spinning chair.
Ron: wasn’t that fun?
Leila: It was okay.
Ron: Only ok?
Leila: Can we please go now?
Ron: Fine. Then get off of my lap.
Leila: Make me.
Ron then lifted her up and got up. She was now in his arms a meter from the ground.
Leila: Put me down already.
Ron slowly put her down making sure that she wasn’t hurt.
Leila: Thanks.
Ron: No problem.
He grabbed his briefcase and jacket and left with her.
Leila: So…
Ron: So what?
Leila: Are you going to that charity ball?
Ron: Yup!
Leila: With?
Ron: Linda
Leila: Oh.
Ron: Jealous?
Leila: Why would I be jealous? I should be relieved that I don’t have to go with you this year.
Ron: You seem more jealous than relieved.
Leila: Whatever.
Ron: You know you could join us if you like.
Leila: No. That’s okay.
Ron: Okay then. But don’t be mad, it’ll cause wrinkles. (He ran his fingers across her forehead). You wouldn’t look pretty with wrinkles.
Leila started laughing: Well, I’m not mad.
Ron: That’s good.
He opened the car door for her and watched her get in, and then he walked around and got onto the car himself.
Leila: I forgot to tell you something.
Ron: What?
Leila: Remember that day at the restaurant when we…
Ron: Kissed?
Leila: Ya.
Ron: What about it? Don’t tell me you like me.
Leila slightly blushed: No! Of course not!
Ron: O well.
Leila; Come on I’m being serious here.
Ron: Ok.
Leila: Well the thing is, Bosco took pictures of us.
Ron: So?
Leila: he suspects that there’s something going on.
Ron: is there?
Leila: How would I know?
Ron: Well, we’ve always been close so I don’t think it matters.
Leila: I know. But people will be talking.
Ron: We shouldn’t care about what they say.
Leila: But I don’t want to cause any misunderstandings.
Ron: Well, I’m not that bad.
Leila: It’s not you but I know lots of people like you and if…
Ron: You mean Nancy? She’s your friend she should know better and besides Bosco didn’t show anyone the pictures yet. Did he?
Leila: Not yet.
Ron: Then there’s no problem.
Leila: I guess.
Ron drove off and for the entire ride they didn’t say a word to each other instead they were listening to a few songs. When they finally got there Ron parked his car and they walked up to Leila’s place.
Ron: What are we having?
Leila: I don’t know, Bosco said it’s a secret.
Ron: As long as Bosco is cooking it’s all-good.
Leila unlocked the door and both of them went in. The smell of food was in the air.
Ron: I smell chicken!
Leila started laughing.
Bosco: Hey! Ron you’re here.
Ron: Yup! I wouldn’t miss your cooking for the world.
Bosco: Hey you wanna see something really cool?
Ron: Sure.
Bosco took out his phone and showed Ron all the pictures he took.
Ron: Nice pics.
Bosco: I know I find them adorable.
Ron: Me too!
Bosco started laughing: You’re reaction and Leila’s reactions are totally different.
Ron: Well, she minds cause after all she’s a woman, you know what they say, woman tend to have thinner facial skin.
Bosco continued laughing and went back into the kitchen.

The Reason: Ch 12
Ch 12
Ron: I should be getting back; I can’t leave her waiting forever. I’ll see you two later. And Leila, do you want me to drive you home or is Raymond?
Leila: I don’t know yet. I’ll call you or knock on your door to tell you.
Ron: Ok then. I’ll see you later. Bye.
Ron walked away and down the hall towards his office. On his way he met up with Tavia.
Ron: Hey.
Tavia: O hi. (She started to have that feeling of butterflies in her stomach just talking to him)
Ron: Busy day so far.
Tavia: Ya. Ummm…
Ron: what?
Tavia: I was just wondering if you’re planning to go back to the community center this Saturday?
Ron: Of course! Are you?
Tavia: Ya. Well…
Ron: How about I come and pick you up then?
Tavia: That would be great. Thanks.
Ron: I told you car-pooling is the way of the future.
Tavia smiled: I should be going downstairs now; I’ll see you later?
Ron: Sure.
As she left he walked towards the large window near his office and stared outside. Here he was able to see the patients and their families together laughing and smiling. He wanted a family of his own. He wanted to have lots of kids and when he would come home from work he could smell the wonderful smell of the food that his wife made. But in this lifetime his dream might never be fulfilled.
Ron’s thoughts
It’s kind of funny when I think about these things like having a family when I know that I would never be able to provide my loved one with that care and time. After my parents left, the only people who I could ever call as my true friends and maybe even family would be Raymond, Bosco, Kevin and of course Leila. Sometimes I wonder if Leila and I weren’t such great friends, if I would’ve asked her out. I still remember the first time I saw her in her prom dress, all dressed up and looking like an angel walking down those stairs. I thought I was being nice asking her out. But truth be told, I was lucky that an angel like her would agree to go with me. It’s funny how things are. In one hand she’s like my best friend ever, I might even be closer to her than Raymond. On the other hand I think I’m beginning to like her. But I can’t cause I don’t want to ruin our special friendship. I’ll probably find the right person for me soon…
Linda noticed that Ron was standing there for a while now and came out. She tapped him on the shoulder and he quickly turned around.
Linda: What are you looking at?
Ron: This (He points out the window to the little children playing)
Linda: They’re so cute.
Ron: Ya.
Linda: Reminds me of my brother and I when we were younger.
Ron: I never heard you speak of your family before.
Linda: Well, my parents immigrated to the U.S. a couple of years ago. So I’m just living with my brother.
Ron: Oh. So, why did you want to go into medicine in the first place? You know it’s a lot of work.
Linda: It’s exciting.
Ron: But you have to work those late nights and long hours aren’t you afraid your boyfriend would be jealous?
Linda: Boyfriend? Who said I have a boyfriend?
Ron: Well, I was just asking. Why wouldn’t you have a boyfriend? You’re smart, talented and pretty.
Linda slightly blushed at his compliment: Well, that doesn’t mean that I would have a boyfriend.
Ron: I guess. I need to tell you something. Let’s go into my office.
Linda: Sure.
They walked into Ron’s office and sat down.
Ron: When’s your evaluation and exam?
Linda: It’s in a couple of months. Why?
Ron: Well, are you ready?
Linda: I guess.
Ron: You got to be confident. If you don’t believe in yourself how can your patients.
Linda: I guess. Is that all you wanted to talk to me about?
Ron: Well, seeing how you’re working and all I think you would do fine. But that’s not the only reason. If you don’t already know every year our hospital has this charity ball kind of thing and I was wondering if you would like to go with me?
Linda: You’re asking me out?
Ron: I guess you could put it that way if you want. But I just wanted you to see and meet other doctors and get to know people.
Linda: I’d love to go unless you’re just using me to get everyone else jealous.
Ron: Why would you say that?
Linda: Don’t act stupid, a blind person can tell that there are a lot of people in this hospital who likes you.
Ron: You’re very observant.
Linda: Thank you. But don’t change the topic.
Ron: Cut me some slack here already. Usually I would go with Leila but seeing you’re new here I thought I would be nice asking you.
Linda: hmmm…I guess I’ll believe you. But why so secretive?
Ron: Cause rumors in this hospital can spread quicker than SARS and can last much, much longer than it.
Linda started laughing: Ok then.
Ron: It’s already four. Time flies eh?
Linda smiled: Well, I better get going.
Ron: Don’t you need a ride?
Linda: Not today. I drove.
Ron: Independent woman now are we?
Linda grabbed her bag and headed towards the door.
Linda: Of course! She smiled at him, opened the door and left.
Ron sat in his chair spinning around like a little kid. Leila slowly walked in and just stood there looking at him. He didn’t seem to notice her presence since he was just too busy enjoying himself in that chair. Finally he noticed her.
Ron: What’s with the silent footsteps?
Leila: It wasn’t silent. It was just that you were too busy spinning around.
Ron: Well, I was waiting for that call or that knock on my door like someone promised.
Leila: I was going to knock but I didn’t want to disturb you. (She giggled)
Ron: So who’s going to drive you?
Leila: Seems to me my brother already left so I guess you’re the lucky one.
Ron: Why am I always so lucky? (He asked sarcastically)
Leila: Well are you going to leave now? Or are you going to continue to spin in circles?
Ron: Would you like to join me?
Leila walked over to him as he tried to move over to make room for her.
Leila: There isn’t enough room.
Ron: Might as well sit on my lap like when we were little.
Leila: Ok.
She got on his lap…as Ron started to spin the chair around faster and faster Ron wrapped his arms around her afraid that she would fall. As they were spinning Raymond popped in to see what was going on when he saw his little sister and his best friend acting like little children he gave a little grin and walked away.

The Reason: Ch 11
Ch 11
The elevator finally came to a stop and reached the third floor where Ron’s office was. As they were walking towards his office Ron saw a familiar face…
Ron: Nancy! You’re back!
Nancy: Yup! I couldn’t just leave this hospital when there’s such a good-looking doctor in the building.
Ron started laughing: So how was your little vacation? Did you bring me back anything?
Nancy: Well, it depends how nice you are to me today.
Ron: I see how it is. (He came over to her and gave her a hug) How’s that?
Nancy: Much better. (She smiled) So who’s this lovely young lady?
Ron: A new interim.
Nancy: Hi.
Linda: Nice to meet you.
Nancy: Right back at you.
Ron: How was Japan?
Nancy: Fabulous. You should really go.
Ron: Leila and I are planning to go soon, but we haven’t decided when.
Nancy: I leave for three weeks and she took you away?
Ron: You lost your chance.
Nancy: That’s unfair.
Ron: Hey, does Leila know you’re back?
Nancy: Not yet.
Ron: I know she’d be really happy if she sees you.
Nancy: Of course! As her best friend…
Ron: What? I’m her best friend.
Nancy: Fine! As her second best friend…
Ron: That’s much better.
Nancy: I got her lots of stuff.
Ron: Want to go see her now?
Nancy: If you’re not busy.
Ron: ummm… Linda, how about you go back to my office first and I’ll be there later.
Linda: Sure.
Ron: Let’s go then.
Ron and Nancy walked towards Raymond’s office.
Nancy: I missed you.
Ron: I missed you too.
Nancy: You know how I feel about you.
Ron: Come on. Don’t be like that.
Nancy: I don’t get it. Half of the female staff in this building likes you, yet you reject every single one of them.
Ron: I don’t want to hurt their feelings…
Nancy: Then why won’t you accept anyone?
Ron: I don’t know.
Nancy: Unless you already have someone.
Ron: I don’t.
Nancy: Are you gay?
Ron: Of course not, if I am then I wouldn’t think that you look amazingly gorgeous would I?
Nancy: Then why Ron?
Ron: Maybe no one here is my cup of tea.
Nancy: How about Leila? I can tell that you really care for her.
Ron: I do. But that doesn’t mean that I feel anything.
Nancy: You and your feelings and chemistry. Don’t you know those things only happen when you give someone a chance?
Ron: I know. But I want to build a stable career first.
Nancy: You’re a doctor. Like your career isn’t stable.
Ron: That’s the problem. If I get into a relationship, how would I ever spend time with her?
Nancy: Fine! At least tell me who you like, after all I’m your friend.
Ron: I like…
He was about to tell her, but then he saw Leila coming towards them.
Leila: Nancy?
Nancy: Leila!
Leila ran towards Nancy to give her a warm welcoming hug.
Leila: How was Japan?
Nancy: It was great! Ron here told me how you two were planning on going as well.
Leila: Yup!
Nancy: So I go for three weeks and you took him away.
Leila: It’s not my fault I’m so attractive. (She started laughing)
Ron joined in the laughter.
Nancy: I see how it is.
Ron: How is it?
Nancy: You two seem to be very compatible.
Leila: Of course we are. (She grabbed Ron’s hand) We’ve known each other since forever.
Ron took Leila’s hand and gently kissed it: Since forever.
Nancy looked at Ron: Is she the one?
Ron: Maybe.
Leila: So did you bring me back anything?
Nancy: Of course I did but you probably wouldn’t want anything cause you already got the best thing in the world…

The Reason: Ch 10
Ch 10
Linda: Ya, I think you should.
Ron smiled: Sorry.
Linda: It’s okay.
Ron got up.
Ron: Leila, look what you’ve done.
Leila: Linda doesn’t mind. Right Linda?
Linda simply smiled.
Ron: Leila, so dinner tonight at your place?
Leila: yup!
Ron: I’ll be there.
Leila: You better be. Okay, I got to go now before my brother yells at me.
Ron: I’ll see you later then?
Leila: Of Course. Bye! (Blows him a kiss)
Ron pretended to catch that kiss and brought it to his heart.
Leila walked away laughing.
Linda: You two seem close.
Ron: Like I told you, we’ve known each other since forever.
Linda: Okay then. (Rolls her eyes)
Ron: Fine, but I’m just saying there’s nothing between us right now.
Linda: There could be.
Ron: Then there could be something between us. (Pointing to Linda)
Linda started blushing: It’s not the same.
Ron moved in closer and whispered in her ear: You never know.
She felt him whisper into her ears. She felt butterflies in her stomach. Was she starting to like him?
Linda: I think we should get going now.
Ron looking at his watch: O ya, I almost forgot.
They left the cafeteria and went to the ER.
Tavia: Ron, 11 people were sent in due to food poisoning.
Ron: I’m on it. Linda let’s get to work.
Tavia loved watching Ron work. He was always so serious and professional making him very attractive. Even when he would yell at her to get things like the anesthetics she didn’t mind cause she knew that the man of her dreams cared for everyone.
Tavia was still standing there daydreaming.
Ron: Tavia! Tavia! Hello?
Tavia: What?
Ron: I’ve been calling your name for a while now and finally you respond.
Tavia: Sorry.
Ron: Save your sorries and daydreaming for later. Right now I need you to go out there and get the information of the patients.
Tavia: o…ok
Ron: GO! Right now, the best way to treat her is with lavage. The poison is too strong to just rehydrate her.
Sammul: Are you sure?
Ron: It’s either this or give her medication but with her condition medication won’t do.
Sammul: All right.
Ron: You take care of that. I think I should go and check out the others.
Tavia: Okay, we’ve identified 10 out of the 11 patients.
Ron: How bout number 11?
Tavia: Well, we didn’t find any identification on her.
Ron: None?
Tavia: Ya.
Ron: That’s okay. Let’s just focus on helping them now.
Tavia: Ok.
She admired his righteousness and his determination, if only he was hers.
Claire: Are you going to ask him out?
Tavia: We got work to do and all you can think about is this?
Claire: Of course! You’re my closest friend and I would love to see you end up with the man of your dreams.
Tavia: Well we’ll discuss this later; right now there are 11 people who need our help.
Claire: ok fine. But after we’re done, you know what to do.
Tavia nodded and went to help Myolie in the other examination room.
Myolie: Did you check the temperature of the patient?
Tavia: His temperature was 36.5ºC, blood pressure was 120 over 70.
Myolie: Okay. So everything is normal. Does he have any history of hypertension or anything?
Tavia: No.
Myolie: Allergies?
Tavia: In his records it says he’s allergic to penicillin.
Myolie: Ok. He’s just suffering from minor food poisoning. We just need to put fluid back into his body and we’ll keep him overnight just in case.
Tavia: Ok.
At last all of the patients were treated.
As Ron took the elevator back to his office Linda followed behind him.
Ron: Did you like it?
Linda: Like what?
Ron: The thrill of saving lives.
Linda: You can’t like saving people. It’s almost like saying you like seeing them suffer so you could help.
Ron started laughing: I was just teasing. You don’t need to take it so seriously. It’s not like we’re downstairs. Just relax.
Linda: You’re like two different people. When you’re downstairs, you’re as cold and professional as can be. But now, you’re just joking around like nothing happened.
Ron: When I was in university, my professor told me to never put my true feelings into what I do. Cause if I do, it would just hurt a lot more.
Linda: So, that’s why you’re like that.
Ron: If you want to get to know me just ask.
Linda: What?
Ron: I’m joking! (He started to laugh)
