Ok, you know how I said I would be posting the true ending soon, cause I found it. Well...I thought I already posted it until I realized I didn't. So, I'm sorry for making everyone wait. Enjoy!
~Ending~
At that moment he knew that from the bottom of his heart the one and only person that mattered to him was Leila. He knew it wasn’t because he thinks that she’s the one in the room but it was because he truly did love her. He was just too afraid to let her know the truth because he knew that he could never live without her. He knew that she meant everything to him. If she weren’t in his life he would not be here today. It was her who was there for him when he needed help. It was her who cheered him up when he was sad. And it will be her that he will share the rest of his life with no matter what the outcome. He realized that Linda was just another person who came into his life and that he did truly care for but she could never replace Leila. In his eyes Leila was his angel. His treasure at the end of the rainbow that now existed in his heart. She was in there all along he was just too senseless to realize it. He wanted to tell her how he felt. He wanted to let her know the truth. But was he too late?
A little girl around 4 years old came and sat down beside him. She saw him crying and tried to cheer him up.
Little girl: doctors don’t cry. I’m a little girl and I don’t cry so you shouldn’t either.
Ron: what are you doing here?
Little girl: My mommy’s in there (pointing to the room) she promised me to show me my daddy.
Ron: You never saw your daddy?
Little girl: My mommy said my daddy’s a doctor too and he’s really busy.
Ron looked at that little girl and he felt this compassion for her.
Little girl: Doctor you have to help my mommy get better. Why is she sleeping for so long?
Ron: Don’t worry she’ll be fine.
Little girl: Are you sure?
Ron: Yes.
Then he heard the heart monitor create a consistent sound. To his dismay she left this world.
Little girl: Doctor, what’s that sound?
Ron: Your mommy went to a better place.
Little girl: But mommy promised to show me my daddy.
Ron: I’m sorry.
The girl began to cry wanting her mommy to return. This made Ron remember how he felt when his mother left.
Ron too began to cry: Why? Why must this happen? When I just finally figured out that you’re the one I truly love. You leave me in this place all alone. Leila I miss you so much. I want you to be here with me every day of my life.
He covered his face with his hands as he lowered his head. Tears rushed out of his eyes like a million waterfalls. His pain was indescribable. He felt deep down that he caused this to happen to her. He couldn’t live without her. She was the one who helped him through everything. How was he able to carry on without her? And was this little girl his daughter?
Little girl: Mommy, I want my mommy.
Ron: Leila how can you leave your daughter like this?
Little girl: (she suddenly looked at Ron with confusion) my mommy’s name isn’t Leila.
Ron didn’t know what to say. He was happy that the love of his life was still alive but on the other hand was torn that Linda, was now gone. He felt guilty for crying over someone who he thought passed away when he could’ve been crying for her. He loved her and cared for her. Ron and Linda shared a special bond that could never be torn. He knew that she left for a reason and the reason was now beside him. She knew that Ron truly didn’t love her but he loved Leila. She left because she didn’t want him to take the responsibility and she didn’t want to become his burden.
Ron: You did so much for me. Why did you have to leave me before a last goodbye? I missed you; I missed the times you would make fun of me. I missed having you fall asleep in my car. I missed our first dance, our first kiss. You’ll always have a place in my heart. Even though the way I feel for you isn’t what you want in return, I’ll always miss you.
From above a woman in her late 20s was watching Ron cry over the two women he loved most. A tear trickled down her face to hear that he loved her and that he’ll always miss her. That tear fell into Ron’s hand.
Kevin, Raymond and Bosco stood there watching Ron and they felt a tap on their shoulder. To their surprise it was Leila.
Raymond: He needs you.
Leila: But he loves her.
Raymond: Leila, he loves you and he has always loved you. He can’t live without you, but he can live without her.
Leila then walked towards Ron. She stood in front of him but because his head was down and covered he didn’t notice. She then placed a hand on his shoulder…
Ron felt a warm feeling flowing through his body, when he looked up he saw her, His angel, his treasure and his soul mate.
Leila: I’m sorry that she’s gone.
Ron: But now she left her for me as a replacement.
Leila: She’s your…
Ron nodded even though Leila didn’t finish her sentence he knew what she was going to say. Leila started to walk away with tears in her eyes.
Leila’s perspective: He doesn’t need me, even though Linda’s gone, their child is here.
Ron took a hold of Leila’s hand and stood up. He walked her over to the window and looked at her.
Ron: I know what you’re thinking and I know how you feel. (Tears were still falling) But you have to believe me that I love you. No matter what, you’ll be the one. I was dumb enough to let you go once; I will never let you go again. My heart is yours, forever and always. Even though Linda and I we may have a child together that doesn’t mean that I don’t love you. What happened between Linda and I was an accident, her presence was by chance. But you, god sent you down to be my guide to be my angel. Haven’t you realized that we’re meant to be, don’t you see that no matter what happens I’ll be there for you and you’ll be there for me? Your presence in my life was fate it was planned and nothing could’ve stopped me from loving you.
Leila: But…
Ron placed his finger on her lips: Shhhhhhhh…
Ron slowly wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her passionately to let her know that she was and still is the one and only in his heart. He may miss Linda but he can live without her. He wanted Leila to know that without her he could not live another second. Without her his life was meaningless.
When their kiss finally ended.
Ron: I hope you understand how I feel.
A smile spread across her face as she felt that all of her dreams came true, she had found her treasure at the end of the rainbow and now is embracing it.
Ron: Raymond once asked me whom I would save in a raging fire, you or Linda. And I didn't know what my answer would be.
Leila: What's your answer now?
Ron: I'd save Linda...(this made her feel less important to him) and then die in the fire with you (this made her smile).
Ron then sang the chorus of his favourite song into her ear:

to change who I used to be

and the reason is you
He then whispered: I love you.

The Reason: Ch 24
Ok, I seriously thought this was going to be the ending considering the fact that I saved this chapter and titled it as 'Ending' but...well...I don't think it is...since I found another files that said 'True Ending'...so ya...well have a nice read
Ch?
4 years later
Wedding bells were ringing; Ron saw Tavia walking down the aisle and smiled to see that everyone was in such a happy mood. Tavia walked towards Ron and then to her husband to be, Raymond.
Ron continued to look towards the door to see if anyone of his soul mates would be coming in but was disappointed that neither of them showed up. After the wedding ceremony Ron watched his buddy kiss his newly wedded wife and smiled at the fact that his friend was no longer that Raymond who had a huge ego but now was a caring and loving husband.
They went outside to take pictures of the newly wedded couple. Even though Ron was smiling, deep down inside he was torn. He didn’t know that they hated him for what he’d done or they just couldn’t make the wedding. Raymond then walked over to Ron.
Raymond: Disappointed?
Ron: About?
Raymond: You know what I’m talking about.
Ron: A bit. You did invite them right?
Raymond: One is my sister and the other has become a great friend of mine and Tavia what do you think?
Ron: I guess they don’t want to see me then.
Raymond: Come on lighten up. Maybe they’re both too busy.
Ron: I missed them.
Raymond: You should’ve picked one before you lost both.
Ron: But I didn’t want to hurt either one of them.
As doctors and nurses working in a hospital they all had their beepers and cell phones on them 24/7.
Ron felt a vibration, and when he looked it was the hospital calling all of them to return because there was an emergency. They all ran back and found out that a plane had crashed while landing in the airport and 85 passengers were injured. Supposedly the flight had come from L.A. where both Leila and Linda were supposed to be.
Ron: Don’t let it be them! I missed them both so much to know that I’d have to lose them both.
Raymond patted him on the shoulder: Don’t worry, they’ll be fine.
Everyone rushed to the hospital at once since it was an emergency and some speculated it might’ve been an attack. Once they got to the hospital Ron was frantically looking around for the two people who he’d cared for just too much to see them hurt. But to his surprise neither of them was there.
Ron: They’re not here that would mean they’re still alive.
Right then Bobby walked over to him.
Bobby: Ron I have something to tell you. But before I do you must promise to stay calm.
Ron: What is it?
Bobby: They’re both here.
Ron: where?
Bobby: Both came in earlier and…
Before Bobby could finish Ron already ran off. He ran to his office and slammed the door. He didn’t know what to do. He wanted to go find them but he couldn’t stand seeing either one of them in pain. His heart was already torn between the two but now to know that they’re both in danger. He didn’t have the strength to see them. He was too scared that what if one of them died. What would he do? He would never be able to live with himself for letting either of them go. He turned on his computer as he sat in his chair. That chair brought back so many memories of them both.
~Flashbacks~
Leila was sitting on Ron’s lap and he spun the chair around, round and round they went laughing as he wrapped his arms around her waist making sure she wouldn’t fall. From that moment he knew that he truly cared for her, not wanting to put her in any type of danger. But he just didn’t want to admit it.
He was sitting there restless because he’d been working for 20 hours. He then felt someone walk behind him and slowly put her hands on his shoulders. When he turned around it was Linda slowly rubbing his shoulder and giving him a massage. He grabbed her hand and looked deeply into her eyes.
~End of flashbacks~
As he was listening to his favourite song… The Reason… the lyrics from the song caught his attention like usual but this time he felt them more than ever before.
I'm sorry that I hurt you
It's something I must live with everyday
And all the pain I put you through
I wish that I could take it all away
And be the one who catches all your tears
That's why I need you to hear
I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
and the reason is you
Hearing these words just made him feel even worse, he didn’t know what to do. By not choosing either one of them he had hurt them both. He then heard a knock on his door…
~Flashback~
Ron: I should be getting back; I can’t leave her waiting forever. I’ll see you two later. And Leila, do you want me to drive you home or is Raymond?
Leila: I don’t know yet. I’ll call you or knock on your door to tell you.
~End of flashback~
He wished it was her knocking on his door but it wasn’t.
Myolie: Ron, you should come, there’s someone you would want to see for the very last time.
Hearing her words dropped his spirit even more. He followed her to the room and sat outside. He was too afraid to look inside and see who was that person lying on the bed fatally injured.
Myolie: Aren’t you going to come in?
Ron: I’m too afraid…
Myolie: Do you want me to stay with you?
Ron: it’s ok.
At this moment all the memories of both of them rushed through his mind.
~Flashback~
Raymond: I got a question.
Ron: Sure.
Raymond: If my sister and Linda both were stuck in a raging fire. Who would you rescue?
Ron: I don’t know. And besides I will never have to choose.
Raymond: What if you do?
~End of flashback~
He wasn’t able to answer that question before, what are the odds of him being able to answer it now? He then saw Bosco, Raymond and Kevin coming towards him, does this mean that the person in the room was Leila?

The Reason: Ch 23
Ch 23
It was around 8:00 p.m. since Ron had to change shifts with Myolie since she used those pictures to black mail him again. In order to protect Leila from those rumors he was willing to change shifts with her.
Leila: hey Ron!
Ron: Hi
Leila: why are you still here?
Ron: Myolie black mailed me with those pictures again!
Leila laughed: I thought you didn’t care about them.
Ron: But I don’t want others to think that we’re together then how can you ever get a boyfriend?
Leila continued to laugh to cover up how she truly felt.
Ron: So, why are YOU here now?
Leila: Well…my shift started a couple of hours ago.
Ron: I see.
Leila: Well then Doctor Ng. Shouldn’t you be in one of those examination rooms?
Ron: Well Doctor Lam…I’m still on my little break and where should YOU be?
Leila started laughing: I’m on my break too.
Ron: I see. (He nodded)
Leila: Well you should see cause I’m right in front of you.
Ron pretended to look around and not see her: Where are you?
Leila started to laugh seeing that Ron can fool around like he use to. It was great seeing him happy again, ever since Linda left this was the first time she saw him fool around like he use to. A smile crept up on her face. Ron could see that when he was in pain so was she. Maybe Raymond was right, but he didn’t want to hurt her like he had hurt Linda. He wasn’t sure of his feelings and before he was he didn’t want to even start a relationship with anyone.
Tavia: Doctor Ng you’re needed in examination room 3
Ron: Hey, I got to go and do my job.
Leila: I’ll see you later then?
Ron: Of Course!
As Ron was walking towards the examination room he saw Kevin with this young lady whom he had never met.
Ron: Kevin?
Kevin: Hey Ron!
Ron: What are you doing here?
Kevin: Well, she called me and told me that her friend got into a car accident so I rushed here as soon as possible.
Ron: And she is?
Kevin: Right, I forgot to introduce you to Niki. Niki this is Ron.
Niki: You have to help my friend (She continued to sob as Kevin tried to ease her pain)
Ron: Don’t worry; I’ll try my best.
Ron went into the examination with the hope that he could help Niki’s friend but when he saw whom it was he too had to shed a tear. It’s been a while since he saw her and now seeing her in this condition didn’t make things any better. Her pulse and blood pressure was dropping as he tried to help her, his spirit dropped as her pulse dropped. It was painful seeing her in this condition. Finally she opened her eyes and saw him, the person who she had left many years ago. She muttered a few words to him as he got closer trying to hear what she had to say. His tear fell onto her cheek as she tried to wipe his tear her heart began to stop and in mere seconds she had left this place. Ron couldn’t believe what he just saw. After so many years he had to see her like this and he had to see her leave him once again. But this time it was for good.
Ron walked out of the examination with tears in his eyes. He couldn’t hold them in cause it wasn’t possible.
Kevin: Ron, why are you crying?
Ron: Why didn’t you tell me it was…Ella?
Kevin: I didn’t know. Sorry.
Niki: How is she?
Ron: I’m sorry…she left us.
Niki began to cry and Kevin was there to give her that shoulder to cry on.
Kevin: Sorry man.
Ron: It’s all right.
Ron walked away feeling like he was living in a nightmare that would never go away. All of these things just happen, one by one as he is tormented by how he truly feels. Leila noticed that after Ron came out of the examination room his spirit dropped but she didn’t know why. As she walked towards the examination room she saw her brother with someone.
Leila: Kevin?
Kevin: Hey, you should go check on Ron.
Leila: Why?
Kevin: You know who was in there?
Leila: No.
Niki continued to cry.
Kevin: It was Niki’s friend…Ron’s love…Ella.
Leila: What happened to her?
Kevin: Car accident. You should really go check on Ron.
Leila: Ok. I’ll see you later?
Kevin: Ya.
Leila went off looking for Ron and found him on the third floor checking on the patients like he should be. He was smiling and laughing and talking to his patients like nothing had happened but Leila knew he was just hiding everything inside. She felt his pain and seeing him like this worried her even more than seeing him in tears.
Ron came out of the room and saw Leila standing there.
Ron: what are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be checking on your patients Doctor Lam?
Leila: I came to see you.
Ron: Why?
Leila: Kevin told me about…Ella.
Ron: So you know?
Leila nodded and seeing Ron’s expressionless face scared her.
Leila: Are you all right?
Ron: Ya, I’m fine.
Leila grabbed a hold of Ron’s arm.
Leila: Ron, don’t scare me. I know you’re hurt just cry it out. Don’t keep everything inside.
Ron: Leila, I’m okay. You know what Ella told me before she died?
Leila: No.
Ron: She told me to smile (A tear rolled down his cheek) and she thanked me for seeing her for the very last time.
Leila saw his tear and felt his pain.
Leila: Ron, I’ll be here for you.
Ron: I know. You always will…(He turned around and walked away)
Leila: Ron! Wait up!
Ron turned to face her once again.
Leila: How about a drink? Your shift should end in half an hour.
Ron: Sure. I’ll see you then.
~10:00 p.m. Ron’s shift ended~
Leila knocked on Ron’s door and saw that no one was in there. She quickly ran down to the emergency room to see if he was still there but Ron was nowhere in sight. She began to panic and ran from floor to floor searching for him. As she went looking for him she heard someone call her name and to her surprise it was Ron.
Ron: where are you going?
Leila breathing heavily: I was looking for you.
Ron smiled: If you waited at my office you could’ve saved all of this time and energy.
Leila: Well, how would I know that you would show up there?
Ron: Well…my jacket and briefcase are both in there, what do you think?
Leila went over to Ron and they walked out of the hospital and into Ron’s car. Ron turned on the radio and to his surprise “If” was playing. The song brought back so many painful and wonderful memories of Ella and him that he could no longer hold in his tears but to cry.
Leila seeing how Ron was in tears tried to comfort him, she told him that everything will be ok and that he should move on and “smile” like Ella told him to.
Leila: Ron, you’re in no condition to drive. Let me drive you home.
Ron: thank you.
She drove him home and went up to his place with him. He was still in tears and no matter what she did; it was hard for him to stop completely. His pain was now visible as he sat on his bed and cried for the one he once loved so truly and dearly.
Ron: Leila, you can go now.
Leila: What about you?
Ron: I’ll be fine…(another tear rolled down his cheek)
Leila tried to wipe his tear as he caught her hand.
Ron: Why are you always here for me? What have I ever done to deserve someone like you? Someone who’s always here for me.
Leila: Ron, you’re tired you should go to sleep now.
Ron: I can’t! not until I get things straight.
With tears in his eyes he looked into hers and as their eyes met Leila felt her heart begin to pound harder and harder. She saw that Ron was in pain and she didn’t want to leave his side.
Ron: How about a drink? (He grabbed a bottle of wine and two wine glasses)
They drank and spoke of past fond memories…she was there by his side. In his eyes she was an angel that would never leave him. As the toxic alcohol took control of his body things that he never thought would happened did. He embraced her in his arms as they began to kiss passionately…
The next morning when he woke up she was gone.
~Leila’s perspective~
I think after all of these years I have finally found my treasure at the end of the rainbow. My treasure was with me when I was young…he was the first to hold my hand, the first to ask me out, he gave me my first kiss and now I’ve spent my first night with him. When he is in pain, so am I. But no matter what happens he can always put a smile on his face that would lighten my heart with joy. I love him, but seeing him in pain hurts me too much, maybe I too should leave him so that he can deal with all of these problems on his own. I don’t want to be the one who helps him through everything. Raymond is right, that day when he was speaking to Ron I heard their entire conversation. If Ron doesn’t know whom he likes then maybe, I might not be the one for him. My presence here will only confuse him. Until the day he finally realizes who he truly loves, then I’ll return.
~End of her perspective~
Leila applied to one of the hospitals in L.A. seeing that Linda was there, she might as well join her and plus she always wanted to go. She told Ron about leaving and even though he tried to stop her, she was determined to leave. Ron was once again in pain seeing her leave at the airport. Before leaving she gave him a kiss and he returned her with one as well. She brought along his present, the one he gave her at her birthday to remember him forever. But how could she forget the person that she had fallen so deeply in love with for the past 20 years of her life. As she left Ron and her brothers a tear rolled down her cheek, she didn’t want to go but she had to for Ron and for herself. She needed to see the world and needed to experience things for herself.

Randomness...OUT!!!
It was around 8:00 p.m. since Ron had to change shifts with Myolie since she used those pictures to black mail him again. In order to protect Leila from those rumors he was willing to change shifts with her.
Leila: hey Ron!
Ron: Hi
Leila: why are you still here?
Ron: Myolie black mailed me with those pictures again!
Leila laughed: I thought you didn’t care about them.
Ron: But I don’t want others to think that we’re together then how can you ever get a boyfriend?
Leila continued to laugh to cover up how she truly felt.
Ron: So, why are YOU here now?
Leila: Well…my shift started a couple of hours ago.
Ron: I see.
Leila: Well then Doctor Ng. Shouldn’t you be in one of those examination rooms?
Ron: Well Doctor Lam…I’m still on my little break and where should YOU be?
Leila started laughing: I’m on my break too.
Ron: I see. (He nodded)
Leila: Well you should see cause I’m right in front of you.
Ron pretended to look around and not see her: Where are you?
Leila started to laugh seeing that Ron can fool around like he use to. It was great seeing him happy again, ever since Linda left this was the first time she saw him fool around like he use to. A smile crept up on her face. Ron could see that when he was in pain so was she. Maybe Raymond was right, but he didn’t want to hurt her like he had hurt Linda. He wasn’t sure of his feelings and before he was he didn’t want to even start a relationship with anyone.
Tavia: Doctor Ng you’re needed in examination room 3
Ron: Hey, I got to go and do my job.
Leila: I’ll see you later then?
Ron: Of Course!
As Ron was walking towards the examination room he saw Kevin with this young lady whom he had never met.
Ron: Kevin?
Kevin: Hey Ron!
Ron: What are you doing here?
Kevin: Well, she called me and told me that her friend got into a car accident so I rushed here as soon as possible.
Ron: And she is?
Kevin: Right, I forgot to introduce you to Niki. Niki this is Ron.
Niki: You have to help my friend (She continued to sob as Kevin tried to ease her pain)
Ron: Don’t worry; I’ll try my best.
Ron went into the examination with the hope that he could help Niki’s friend but when he saw whom it was he too had to shed a tear. It’s been a while since he saw her and now seeing her in this condition didn’t make things any better. Her pulse and blood pressure was dropping as he tried to help her, his spirit dropped as her pulse dropped. It was painful seeing her in this condition. Finally she opened her eyes and saw him, the person who she had left many years ago. She muttered a few words to him as he got closer trying to hear what she had to say. His tear fell onto her cheek as she tried to wipe his tear her heart began to stop and in mere seconds she had left this place. Ron couldn’t believe what he just saw. After so many years he had to see her like this and he had to see her leave him once again. But this time it was for good.
Ron walked out of the examination with tears in his eyes. He couldn’t hold them in cause it wasn’t possible.
Kevin: Ron, why are you crying?
Ron: Why didn’t you tell me it was…Ella?
Kevin: I didn’t know. Sorry.
Niki: How is she?
Ron: I’m sorry…she left us.
Niki began to cry and Kevin was there to give her that shoulder to cry on.
Kevin: Sorry man.
Ron: It’s all right.
Ron walked away feeling like he was living in a nightmare that would never go away. All of these things just happen, one by one as he is tormented by how he truly feels. Leila noticed that after Ron came out of the examination room his spirit dropped but she didn’t know why. As she walked towards the examination room she saw her brother with someone.
Leila: Kevin?
Kevin: Hey, you should go check on Ron.
Leila: Why?
Kevin: You know who was in there?
Leila: No.
Niki continued to cry.
Kevin: It was Niki’s friend…Ron’s love…Ella.
Leila: What happened to her?
Kevin: Car accident. You should really go check on Ron.
Leila: Ok. I’ll see you later?
Kevin: Ya.
Leila went off looking for Ron and found him on the third floor checking on the patients like he should be. He was smiling and laughing and talking to his patients like nothing had happened but Leila knew he was just hiding everything inside. She felt his pain and seeing him like this worried her even more than seeing him in tears.
Ron came out of the room and saw Leila standing there.
Ron: what are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be checking on your patients Doctor Lam?
Leila: I came to see you.
Ron: Why?
Leila: Kevin told me about…Ella.
Ron: So you know?
Leila nodded and seeing Ron’s expressionless face scared her.
Leila: Are you all right?
Ron: Ya, I’m fine.
Leila grabbed a hold of Ron’s arm.
Leila: Ron, don’t scare me. I know you’re hurt just cry it out. Don’t keep everything inside.
Ron: Leila, I’m okay. You know what Ella told me before she died?
Leila: No.
Ron: She told me to smile (A tear rolled down his cheek) and she thanked me for seeing her for the very last time.
Leila saw his tear and felt his pain.
Leila: Ron, I’ll be here for you.
Ron: I know. You always will…(He turned around and walked away)
Leila: Ron! Wait up!
Ron turned to face her once again.
Leila: How about a drink? Your shift should end in half an hour.
Ron: Sure. I’ll see you then.
~10:00 p.m. Ron’s shift ended~
Leila knocked on Ron’s door and saw that no one was in there. She quickly ran down to the emergency room to see if he was still there but Ron was nowhere in sight. She began to panic and ran from floor to floor searching for him. As she went looking for him she heard someone call her name and to her surprise it was Ron.
Ron: where are you going?
Leila breathing heavily: I was looking for you.
Ron smiled: If you waited at my office you could’ve saved all of this time and energy.
Leila: Well, how would I know that you would show up there?
Ron: Well…my jacket and briefcase are both in there, what do you think?
Leila went over to Ron and they walked out of the hospital and into Ron’s car. Ron turned on the radio and to his surprise “If” was playing. The song brought back so many painful and wonderful memories of Ella and him that he could no longer hold in his tears but to cry.
Leila seeing how Ron was in tears tried to comfort him, she told him that everything will be ok and that he should move on and “smile” like Ella told him to.
Leila: Ron, you’re in no condition to drive. Let me drive you home.
Ron: thank you.
She drove him home and went up to his place with him. He was still in tears and no matter what she did; it was hard for him to stop completely. His pain was now visible as he sat on his bed and cried for the one he once loved so truly and dearly.
Ron: Leila, you can go now.
Leila: What about you?
Ron: I’ll be fine…(another tear rolled down his cheek)
Leila tried to wipe his tear as he caught her hand.
Ron: Why are you always here for me? What have I ever done to deserve someone like you? Someone who’s always here for me.
Leila: Ron, you’re tired you should go to sleep now.
Ron: I can’t! not until I get things straight.
With tears in his eyes he looked into hers and as their eyes met Leila felt her heart begin to pound harder and harder. She saw that Ron was in pain and she didn’t want to leave his side.
Ron: How about a drink? (He grabbed a bottle of wine and two wine glasses)
They drank and spoke of past fond memories…she was there by his side. In his eyes she was an angel that would never leave him. As the toxic alcohol took control of his body things that he never thought would happened did. He embraced her in his arms as they began to kiss passionately…
The next morning when he woke up she was gone.
~Leila’s perspective~
I think after all of these years I have finally found my treasure at the end of the rainbow. My treasure was with me when I was young…he was the first to hold my hand, the first to ask me out, he gave me my first kiss and now I’ve spent my first night with him. When he is in pain, so am I. But no matter what happens he can always put a smile on his face that would lighten my heart with joy. I love him, but seeing him in pain hurts me too much, maybe I too should leave him so that he can deal with all of these problems on his own. I don’t want to be the one who helps him through everything. Raymond is right, that day when he was speaking to Ron I heard their entire conversation. If Ron doesn’t know whom he likes then maybe, I might not be the one for him. My presence here will only confuse him. Until the day he finally realizes who he truly loves, then I’ll return.
~End of her perspective~
Leila applied to one of the hospitals in L.A. seeing that Linda was there, she might as well join her and plus she always wanted to go. She told Ron about leaving and even though he tried to stop her, she was determined to leave. Ron was once again in pain seeing her leave at the airport. Before leaving she gave him a kiss and he returned her with one as well. She brought along his present, the one he gave her at her birthday to remember him forever. But how could she forget the person that she had fallen so deeply in love with for the past 20 years of her life. As she left Ron and her brothers a tear rolled down her cheek, she didn’t want to go but she had to for Ron and for herself. She needed to see the world and needed to experience things for herself.

The Reason: Ch 22
Happy New Year!!! Enjoy!!!
Ch 22
Once she left Ron felt even worse. Not being able to see her was really getting to him. Maybe he did like her cause right now he really cares about her and misses her. She would email him once in a while saying how happy she is and about how high-tech the hospital is and stuff like that. Those emails would put a smile on his face but not for long. His smile then disappeared because of his doubts. He missed her, he really did. Now every morning when he comes into his office he can’t see her smiling face or when he’s tired she’s not there to tell him to go to sleep. At least he still had Leila, a friend that would never leave him…or so he hopes.
~Lunch~
Ron was sitting there with Raymond and chatting about life and stuff.
Raymond: You miss her don’t you?
Ron: Of course I do.
Raymond: Why didn’t you stop her?
Ron: She didn’t even let me know that she was going to leave, how was I suppose to know?
Raymond: Sorry man! If you loved her, you should’ve told her.
Ron: I don’t even know if I do love her. I miss her, I care for her but that doesn’t mean that I love her. Does it?
Raymond: I don’t know. But then who DO you love?
Ron: I don’t know. I seriously don’t know. If only someone would tell me the answer.
Raymond: I don’t think anyone can buddy. This is something that you have to figure out. Sorry man. (He patted Ron on the back and walked away)
Ron sat there restless in confusion. He really didn’t know what was going on deep down. He closed his eyes for a moment and noticed that someone came over and sat beside him. He didn’t need to open his eyes to know who it was because he could feel her presence.
Ron: I don’t know what to do.
Leila: I know what you SHOULD do.
Ron: And what’s that? (He turned to her)
Leila: To be the Ron who I knew since I was little, who could make me happy when I was sad and would play with me whenever my brothers didn’t. A Ron that was a great doctor who cared for everyone. That’s who you are Ron and so that’s what you should do. Continue to be you.
Ron: But by being me I caused so many people so much pain; I don’t know what to do anymore,
Leila took a hold of his hand: Ron, no matter what I’ll be here for you.
Ron: thanks.
He listened to her words and tried his best to be who he was. He once again had put that smile on his face that mesmerized everyone and covered up all of his sorrow and pain.
Leila had become a doctor who worked full time at the hospital and he would be able to see her everyday. She was the only person who was able to help him through this period of time. She was the only person who was willing to help him through all of these things. She helped him because she still loved him but she knew he could never figure that out by himself. It was funny how it was always her who would tell him that someone liked him. She just wanted him to be happy and by doing so she’s been neglecting her own feelings.
Ron was sitting in his office alone reading Linda’s most recent email.
~Email~
Hey, Ron
It’s been a month now and I know you miss me. (This line made him smile) I’m doing fine in L.A. so you don’t need to worry and I promise I’ll write often and I’ll come back to visit you.
Love Linda
~End of Email~
Her emails were always short but at least she still remembered him. He still missed her…a lot.
He then heard a knock on the door and saw Raymond coming in.
Raymond: What are you doing?
Ron: Just reading an email.
Raymond: From Linda?
Ron: Yes!
Raymond: What did she say?
Ron: The usual.
Raymond: Oh.
Ron: is that why you’re here?
Raymond: can’t a buddy come and just chat with you?
Ron: It’s not like you to do that.
Raymond: Well I want to talk to you.
Ron: About?
Raymond: If you figured out whom you like yet?
Ron: And this concerns you because?
Raymond: Come on, we’ve been pals forever.
Ron: So…
Raymond: SO of course I would care about your love life.
Ron: Well I don’t know.
Raymond: Just out of curiosity, do you like my sister?
Ron: Why do you ask?
Raymond: Cause as her brother I care about her too and just because I don’t show it doesn’t mean that I don’t.
Ron: And…
Raymond: I think she likes you.
Ron: what makes you say that (begins to laugh)
Raymond: Come on Ron, she’s always there for you. Doesn’t that tell you something?
Ron: That tells me that she cares for me like a friend should.
Raymond: Dude, she has never had a single date in years and she’s always there for you no matter what. Don’t you feel anything?
Ron: I don’t know.
Raymond: Don’t tell me you still like Ella?
Ron: I don’t.
Raymond: Then? Do you care for my sister?
Ron: Of Course I Do!
Raymond: Do you like her?
Ron: Of course!
Raymond: Do you love her?
Ron: I don’t know.
Raymond: If my sister and Linda were stuck in a raging fire. Who would you save?
Ron: I don’t know. And besides I will never have to choose.
Raymond: What if you do? (His cell phone rang and he went out leaving Ron in confusion once again)

The Reason: Ch 21
Ch 21
The next morning she woke up and found herself in bed, but a bed that wasn’t hers. She recalled about what happened last night and realized that she was at Ron’s. He was nowhere in sight which made her feel a bit unease. But when she heard that warm voice all the doubts in her heart disappeared.
Ron: Morning.
Linda: Morning
Ron: About last night, I…
Linda: It’s ok. I know there’s nothing between us…and I totally understand…it was all an accident.
Ron: I’m sorry. I would be lying to you if I told you I feel the same way as you do but I’ll try if you want to give me a chance, give us a chance.
Linda: We’ll see.
Ron: Well, I’ll go buy breakfast and you can change into something while I’m gone.
Linda: Ok.
As he left her there she wasn’t saddened by the fact that he didn’t love her but she was happy that he didn’t lie to her. For once she found someone who wouldn’t lie to her. For once she found someone who would try to love her whole-heartedly rather than pretend to love her. She was glad that the person she spent her first night with was Ron.
~Ron’s thoughts~
What have I done? I wasn’t drunk or anything…then why did it happen? What am I suppose to do? It’s not right. It’s so unfair to her. What if I ruined her life? I guess the first line in the song The Reason is just so true “I’m not a perfect person, there’s many things I wished I didn’t do”.

~End of his thoughts~
He went out to buy congee and came back and he saw her cleaning up his place. She was looking through his photo albums while wearing his clothes, which made him laugh.
Ron: Maybe I should go and buy you something to wear?
Linda: no need.
Ron: Well then let’s eat.
There was an eerie silence in the air as they ate cause they both didn’t want to mention what happened last night or anything else. They just sat there and ate until finally Ron finished his and walked over to the sink and started washing the bowl. Linda sat there not saying a word she wanted to tell him that maybe they should give each other a chance yet she had a feeling that Ron has someone else in his heart that he didn’t know about. She didn’t want to be a third wheel in his love life.
Ron’s Perspective:
The next few weeks passed by quickly as the relationship between Tavia and Raymond was now stable you could say. It’s funny how the two of them from enemies turned into lovers. Bosco and Myolie still used the pictures that they took a while back to threaten me and blackmail me to switch shifts so that Myolie can go out with him. I remember that day when Myolie saw Leila and I sitting around talking she sang, “ Love is in the air” as she walked past us.
Between Linda and I, nothing really developed. Maybe she’s trying to avoid me now because of what happened that night. But it’s been hard trying to talk to her and she’s become great friends with Tavia supposedly. She’s always with her, maybe that’s her way of avoiding me. Her exam is coming up in two weeks and hopefully both her and Leila are successful.
It’s been Leila’s lifelong dream to become a doctor. I really hope all her dreams can come true.
End of his perspective
Ron: Linda!
She finally turned around.
Linda: Ya.
Ron: I want to talk to you.
Linda: Aren’t we already talking?
Ron: You know what I mean.
Linda: Ok, your office then?
Ron: Ya.
They walked to his office as soon as they entered Ron closed the door.
Ron: You look pale. Are you ok?
Linda: I’m fine.
Ron: Are you sure?
Linda: Yes.
Ron: I don’t want you to be fainting when you’re on those long hour shifts.
Linda: I’ll be ok.
Ron: How about dinner?
Linda: Tonight?
Ron: If you’re not busy.
Linda: Umm…I already made plan.
Ron: Oh. Well then I guess you should be going.
Linda: Ya. Bye.
She left him sitting there all alone wondering about what he’d done. Why is she like that? He killed her spirit. He felt guilty for doing the things he did but he can’t change the past, he can only hope for a better future. She wasn’t only an interim or someone who he slept with by accident but she was his friend and he could tell from the way she speaks to the way she looks at him or the way she plays with her hair that she was trying to avoid him. He couldn’t just sit there he had to go after her.
He ran down the hallway, down the stairs and to the parking lot. She was nowhere in sight. He got on his car and drove and saw her standing at the bus stop. She was avoiding him pretending she made plans…then she fainted.
Ron got out of his car and rushed to her side. He quickly picked her up and ran into the hospital to get someone to look at her. He stood outside as she was inside the examination room being looked at by Myolie.
Ron stood out there worrying about her until he caught sight of Leila. She walked over to him and tried to comfort him.
Leila: Ron, What’s wrong?
Ron: She’s in there.
Leila: Who?
Ron: Linda.
Leila: What happened?
Ron: I don’t know…she was at the bus stop and she fainted.
Leila: Ron, you know she’s been avoiding you.
He nodded.
Leila: what happened?
Ron whispered in her ear what happened and she gasped not knowing what to say, her heart seem to have sank to the bottomless pit formed in her body. She couldn’t believe it.
Ron: But the thing is I don’t feel anything between us.
Leila: Did you tell her that?
Ron nodded.
Leila: Ron! How could you?
Ron: I don’t know. I didn’t want to mislead her and I just had to let her know.
Leila: What’s wrong with Linda? Why don’t you like her?
Ron: I don’t know. There’s just no spark, no chemistry. Leila, I don’t know what to do.
Leila: Don’t worry…(she embraced him and then gave him a peck on the cheek before she left)
This time her kiss didn’t make him feel any better.
~Inside the examination room~
Linda finally woke up.
Linda: Where am I?
Myolie: You’re back in the hospital silly.
Linda: Oh.
Myolie: We did a check up and we found out that…
Linda: I know. Please don’t tell anyone.
Myolie: Don’t worry everything will be kept confidential.
Linda: Thank you.
Tavia came in and told everyone else to leave as she spoke to Linda.
Tavia: So what are you going to do?
Linda: Well, my exam and stuff are in two weeks; after I get my M.D. I’m planning to go to L.A. where my parents are and stay there for a while to get everything straight and clear up some stuff.
Tavia: Does Ron know?
Linda: I’m not planning to tell him.
Tavia: But he’ll feel so bad not being able to stop you from leaving. After all he is a real sensitive guy.
Linda: Well then the sooner I leave the better.
Tavia: Why would you say that?
Linda: Cause if I’m around he’ll never figure out whom he truly loves.
Tavia: And you know?
Linda nodded.
Tavia: Well I guess if you made your choice then, you should go on with it. I’ll promise to help you keep the secret.
Linda: Thanks. (She hugged Tavia and went out of the examination room to face Ron)
~In the main foyer~
Ron: So…what happened?
Linda: I was just tired. I think I’ll take a few days off to prepare for my exam if that’s ok with you.
Ron: Sure…as long as you’re safe.
Linda: Thanks. (She began to walk away)
Ron grabbed her arm: Hey, how about I drive you home. It’s the least I can do.
Linda: Ok.
They walked out to the parking lot where Ron got his car and drove her home. On the way home she couldn’t help but look at him. She knew that she would miss him just so much if she leaves. But she had to, it was the right thing to do…or at least she thought it was the right thing to do. By the time he drove her back she had fallen asleep even though the ride was only 15 minutes.
Ron looked as her as she fell asleep in his car. He didn’t know if he loved her or not and most importantly he didn’t want to hurt her. He just sat there and looked at her while she slept. Finally he decided to plant a kiss on her forehead.
Ron whispered: I’m sorry; I can’t say I love you when I don’t know if I do.
Linda heard these words and a tear rolled down her cheek. She loved him even though they’ve only known each other for a few months he had become her everything. Every morning when she gets up she looks forward to seeing his smiling face at the hospital. But she was now more disappointed than ever knowing that after all they’ve been through he still didn’t feel anything for her at all. She finally woke up and turned to him.
Linda: Bye…(She whispered) I’ll miss you…Ron.
Ron didn’t want to see her leave but he didn’t know what to do because he didn’t want to mislead her…

The next morning she woke up and found herself in bed, but a bed that wasn’t hers. She recalled about what happened last night and realized that she was at Ron’s. He was nowhere in sight which made her feel a bit unease. But when she heard that warm voice all the doubts in her heart disappeared.
Ron: Morning.
Linda: Morning
Ron: About last night, I…
Linda: It’s ok. I know there’s nothing between us…and I totally understand…it was all an accident.
Ron: I’m sorry. I would be lying to you if I told you I feel the same way as you do but I’ll try if you want to give me a chance, give us a chance.
Linda: We’ll see.
Ron: Well, I’ll go buy breakfast and you can change into something while I’m gone.
Linda: Ok.
As he left her there she wasn’t saddened by the fact that he didn’t love her but she was happy that he didn’t lie to her. For once she found someone who wouldn’t lie to her. For once she found someone who would try to love her whole-heartedly rather than pretend to love her. She was glad that the person she spent her first night with was Ron.
~Ron’s thoughts~
What have I done? I wasn’t drunk or anything…then why did it happen? What am I suppose to do? It’s not right. It’s so unfair to her. What if I ruined her life? I guess the first line in the song The Reason is just so true “I’m not a perfect person, there’s many things I wished I didn’t do”.

~End of his thoughts~
He went out to buy congee and came back and he saw her cleaning up his place. She was looking through his photo albums while wearing his clothes, which made him laugh.
Ron: Maybe I should go and buy you something to wear?
Linda: no need.
Ron: Well then let’s eat.
There was an eerie silence in the air as they ate cause they both didn’t want to mention what happened last night or anything else. They just sat there and ate until finally Ron finished his and walked over to the sink and started washing the bowl. Linda sat there not saying a word she wanted to tell him that maybe they should give each other a chance yet she had a feeling that Ron has someone else in his heart that he didn’t know about. She didn’t want to be a third wheel in his love life.
Ron’s Perspective:
The next few weeks passed by quickly as the relationship between Tavia and Raymond was now stable you could say. It’s funny how the two of them from enemies turned into lovers. Bosco and Myolie still used the pictures that they took a while back to threaten me and blackmail me to switch shifts so that Myolie can go out with him. I remember that day when Myolie saw Leila and I sitting around talking she sang, “ Love is in the air” as she walked past us.
Between Linda and I, nothing really developed. Maybe she’s trying to avoid me now because of what happened that night. But it’s been hard trying to talk to her and she’s become great friends with Tavia supposedly. She’s always with her, maybe that’s her way of avoiding me. Her exam is coming up in two weeks and hopefully both her and Leila are successful.
It’s been Leila’s lifelong dream to become a doctor. I really hope all her dreams can come true.
End of his perspective
Ron: Linda!
She finally turned around.
Linda: Ya.
Ron: I want to talk to you.
Linda: Aren’t we already talking?
Ron: You know what I mean.
Linda: Ok, your office then?
Ron: Ya.
They walked to his office as soon as they entered Ron closed the door.
Ron: You look pale. Are you ok?
Linda: I’m fine.
Ron: Are you sure?
Linda: Yes.
Ron: I don’t want you to be fainting when you’re on those long hour shifts.
Linda: I’ll be ok.
Ron: How about dinner?
Linda: Tonight?
Ron: If you’re not busy.
Linda: Umm…I already made plan.
Ron: Oh. Well then I guess you should be going.
Linda: Ya. Bye.
She left him sitting there all alone wondering about what he’d done. Why is she like that? He killed her spirit. He felt guilty for doing the things he did but he can’t change the past, he can only hope for a better future. She wasn’t only an interim or someone who he slept with by accident but she was his friend and he could tell from the way she speaks to the way she looks at him or the way she plays with her hair that she was trying to avoid him. He couldn’t just sit there he had to go after her.
He ran down the hallway, down the stairs and to the parking lot. She was nowhere in sight. He got on his car and drove and saw her standing at the bus stop. She was avoiding him pretending she made plans…then she fainted.
Ron got out of his car and rushed to her side. He quickly picked her up and ran into the hospital to get someone to look at her. He stood outside as she was inside the examination room being looked at by Myolie.
Ron stood out there worrying about her until he caught sight of Leila. She walked over to him and tried to comfort him.
Leila: Ron, What’s wrong?
Ron: She’s in there.
Leila: Who?
Ron: Linda.
Leila: What happened?
Ron: I don’t know…she was at the bus stop and she fainted.
Leila: Ron, you know she’s been avoiding you.
He nodded.
Leila: what happened?
Ron whispered in her ear what happened and she gasped not knowing what to say, her heart seem to have sank to the bottomless pit formed in her body. She couldn’t believe it.
Ron: But the thing is I don’t feel anything between us.
Leila: Did you tell her that?
Ron nodded.
Leila: Ron! How could you?
Ron: I don’t know. I didn’t want to mislead her and I just had to let her know.
Leila: What’s wrong with Linda? Why don’t you like her?
Ron: I don’t know. There’s just no spark, no chemistry. Leila, I don’t know what to do.
Leila: Don’t worry…(she embraced him and then gave him a peck on the cheek before she left)
This time her kiss didn’t make him feel any better.
~Inside the examination room~
Linda finally woke up.
Linda: Where am I?
Myolie: You’re back in the hospital silly.
Linda: Oh.
Myolie: We did a check up and we found out that…
Linda: I know. Please don’t tell anyone.
Myolie: Don’t worry everything will be kept confidential.
Linda: Thank you.
Tavia came in and told everyone else to leave as she spoke to Linda.
Tavia: So what are you going to do?
Linda: Well, my exam and stuff are in two weeks; after I get my M.D. I’m planning to go to L.A. where my parents are and stay there for a while to get everything straight and clear up some stuff.
Tavia: Does Ron know?
Linda: I’m not planning to tell him.
Tavia: But he’ll feel so bad not being able to stop you from leaving. After all he is a real sensitive guy.
Linda: Well then the sooner I leave the better.
Tavia: Why would you say that?
Linda: Cause if I’m around he’ll never figure out whom he truly loves.
Tavia: And you know?
Linda nodded.
Tavia: Well I guess if you made your choice then, you should go on with it. I’ll promise to help you keep the secret.
Linda: Thanks. (She hugged Tavia and went out of the examination room to face Ron)
~In the main foyer~
Ron: So…what happened?
Linda: I was just tired. I think I’ll take a few days off to prepare for my exam if that’s ok with you.
Ron: Sure…as long as you’re safe.
Linda: Thanks. (She began to walk away)
Ron grabbed her arm: Hey, how about I drive you home. It’s the least I can do.
Linda: Ok.
They walked out to the parking lot where Ron got his car and drove her home. On the way home she couldn’t help but look at him. She knew that she would miss him just so much if she leaves. But she had to, it was the right thing to do…or at least she thought it was the right thing to do. By the time he drove her back she had fallen asleep even though the ride was only 15 minutes.
Ron looked as her as she fell asleep in his car. He didn’t know if he loved her or not and most importantly he didn’t want to hurt her. He just sat there and looked at her while she slept. Finally he decided to plant a kiss on her forehead.
Ron whispered: I’m sorry; I can’t say I love you when I don’t know if I do.

The Reason: Ch 20
Ch 20
~One week later~
Ron waited for her in his nice black tux. He even bought a bouquet just to be a gentleman. He looked down at his Rolex watch and it was 6:00 p.m. They were going to be late if she doesn’t come down and being late was one thing Ron didn’t want to do. That would mean being the center of attention and being stared at by all of those people.
Finally she appeared dressed in a beautiful and elegant evening gown. Her beauty captured Ron’s eyes. For the first time he saw her looking like this, very feminine and the features of her gown just accentuated her natural beauty. She smiled when he came into her sight. She too had never seen him so dressed up. He looked great, magnificent even in his tux with his hair nicely done and not scrunched up in a mess. He then walked over to her handing her a bouquet of roses, which made her smile. Even though this wasn’t her first time receiving flowers from a guy but it was the first from him.
Ron: Can we please get going before we come in late and be the center of attention?
Linda: Fine!
Ron opened the door for her and she got in.
He drove to the Radisson hotel where the ball was being held and entered the hotel with Linda’s arm locked in his. The many pairs of eyes were staring them down and made them feel uncomfortable, finally a familiar face.
Raymond: Ron! Over here!
Ron looked around and saw Raymond with Tavia.
Ron and Linda came over.
Ron: So after that night you two are…
Tavia: No. We just met each other here.
Ron: Oooo…
Raymond: So you ditched my little sister for her eh?
Ron: Where is Leila?
Raymond: Over there with Sammul and Nancy. (Pointing to the drinks table)
Ron: Linda, you wouldn’t mind standing around talking to Ray while I go over there and say hi to them?
Linda: No.
Ron: I’ll be back.
He walked over to where Leila was and tapped her on the other shoulder, which made her turn and look the wrong way. When she turned back he was there in front of her.
Leila: You left your date with my brother? Aren’t you afraid that she’ll like him?
Ron: It doesn’t matter. I just asked her to go with me so that she would feel welcome at our hospital. Nothing more…I think.
Leila: So…
Ron: Who did you go with?
Leila: Does it matter?
Ron: Of course it does!
Leila: I made Raymond take me.
Ron: And he actually agreed?
Leila: Well, I threatened to tell his story…you know…
Ron: Oooo…I see.
The two of them began to laugh until they noticed that the people there had began to dim the lights and the music was on.
Leila: Hey, I think you should go back to your date now since my brother just went to talk Tavia. She’s standing there all by herself.
Ron: How about you?
Leila: Don’t worry about me I’ll be fine.
Ron: You sure?
Leila: Ya.
Ron: Ok…I guess I’ll go then. I’ll see you later?
Leila: Of course!
Ron walked over to Linda.
Ron: Would you like to share this dance with me?
Linda smiled and gladly accepted.
On the dance floor Ron placed his hands on her waist. At first they were dancing at a distance but soon they moved in closer, and Ron slowly wrapped his arms around her waist making her feel safe and secure as she put her arms on his broad shoulders. She had wished that that dance would last forever because she didn’t want to let him go. As soon as the song was over…
Ron looked at her and smiled: Hey, I’m going to go check on Leila if that’s okay with you.
Linda: Sure.
She was disappointed but she couldn’t let him know then it would mean to reveal to him that she had fallen for him.
Ron went over to Leila and grabbed her hand.
Ron: Dance?
Leila: What about Linda?
Ron: She’ll be fine.
Leila: You know you should stay with her.
Ron: But what about you?
Leila: I told you I’d be fine. But Linda, this is her first time here and she barely knows anyone. Ron I know you’re a nice guy and all but it’s ok if you don’t dance with me, I’ll be fine. Go back.
Ron: Fine. If you’re going to be ok then there’s no point in me standing around.
He left Leila and walked back to Linda. From a far he could see that she wasn’t enjoying herself or anything but she was rather quiet and barely spoke to anyone.
Ron grabbed her hand and ran off with her.
Ron: Come on; let me show you around before you become as stiff as a rock.
Linda: What are talking about? I’m fine.
Ron: I’m not blind and by the looks of it you look pretty bored.
She followed him cause she had no choice but on the other hand as they ran outside hand in hand she felt as if she was the luckiest person in the world.
Ron: Some fresh air never hurts.
Linda smiled: It’s so nice out!
Ron: It’s gorgeous, almost as gorgeous as you.
Linda blushed hearing him compliment her.
Ron: I mean it. You look magnificent.
Linda: Thanks.
Ron: Do you want to go for a drive and leave this place?
She nodded and as he drove and they talked they realized that they shared so much in common. Finally he stopped his car at the beach.
Linda: Have you ever joined “Doctors Without Borders”?
Ron: I did last year when the Tsunami hit Thailand.
Linda: That must’ve been a great experience.
Ron: It was. Not only was I able to help people but also I was able to see how difficult life is and I learned to cherish what I have, and never let a moment pass me by.
He drove her to his place and showed her some of the souvenirs that he got as well as the presents the little kids there made for him. As he was looking through the stuff an album fell out which made him think of all of the things that had happened in the past.
He looked at her with these saddened eyes as a tear rolled down his cheek memories of his parents, of his girlfriend rushed through his head. In his eyes she could tell that he’d been through a lot and now he uses his warm smile to cover up all of those pain. She wanted to be there for him. As he continued to look at her they began to come in closer and closer until finally….

The Reason: Ch 19
Raymond: So Tavia, how’s your ankle?
Tavia: It’s a lot better, thank you.
Raymond: Well, we better get…
Leila: Raymond!
Raymond: Look who it is….
Tavia turned around and caught sight of both Ron and Leila. She walked towards them and Ron instantly noticed that she had sprained her ankle. Before she got to them Ron ran to her.
Ron: You sprained your ankle?
Tavia: Ya, last night.
Ron: Raymond, I told you to watch her.
Raymond: I did!
Tavia: It’s not his fault.
Ron: Are you all right? Do you want me to take a look at it?
Tavia: It’s fine. We all better get going now or else we’ll be late.
The four of the got into the elevator and went downstairs.
Linda was already down there, ready to work. Today was her first 30-hour shift, not only was she excited but also energetic?
Ron: Linda!
She turned around and saw him coming out of the elevator, her eyes caught his and she was lost. Ron walked over to her and placed his hand on her shoulder.
Ron: Are you ready for today?
Linda: Of course!
Ron smiled seeing how excited she was reminded him of how excited he was when he was still an interim.
Finally 20 hours passed. He knew that he needed to buy Leila a present cause after his shift ends he would have to go to her birthday party as he had promised. He was in his office sitting there restless he closed his eyes and suddenly felt someone gently putting their hands on his shoulder. He grabbed one of the hands and turned around; to his surprise it was Linda. He looked deeply into her eyes and realized that he too was beginning to like her. He didn’t know that if that feeling was “love” or was it just the fact that he admired her personality. Silence was in the air as the two of them were just looking at each other and finally broke the silence.
Ron: The ball is next week. (He still had his hand on hers)
Linda took her hand away: I know.
Ron: Are you tired?
Linda: No, but if you are you can go to asleep since we have an hour break. I’ll wake you up.
Ron: Thanks.
Linda: No problem.
Ron: I’ll sleep on the couch, so you can take my chair for now.
Linda: Ok.
Ron walked over to the couch and lied down. He was tired and confused. There were too many things on his mind but now he just needed to sleep. His eyes became heavy and he soon fell asleep.
Linda, who was sitting on his chair, was watching him sleep. She reminisced what just happened, how he held onto her hand and looked in her eyes. She had a funny feeling inside it was love. She wanted to spend every second with him. Since it was late, no one was roaming the halls, the blind in Ron’s office was down and everything was just dark. She walked over to him and looked at him. She soon bent over and gave him a peck on the forehead. She didn’t know why she did it; she just had the temptation to do so. She quickly walked over to Ron’s seat and sat there until it was time to wake him up.
~That evening~
Ron: Yes! Finally the shift is over, now I have to go find something for Leila or else I won’t be able to see tomorrow’s sunlight.
Linda started laughing.
Ron: Well, I got to go. I’ll see you tomorrow!
Linda: Bye.
Ron got into his car and drove around town looking for the right present for Leila. He knew it was the thought that counts but he still wanted to get her something that she would like, something that he had never bought her before. Then it struck him, a rose. It’s kind of funny how he had never bought her a rose before. It was always something else, something that would last. So what he bought her was…
~At Leila’s House~
All three of her brothers were there along with Tavia, Myolie and Nancy, three of her closest colleagues.
Leila: Myolie, do you know when Ron will be coming?
Myolie: You miss him already?
Leila blushed: No, I just want that present from him.
They all laughed knowing that no matter what Ron gets her she’ll always like it. Then they heard a knock on the door and there he was.
Leila: Why so late?
Ron yawned: My shift just ended and I had to go get you something.
Leila smiled at the sight of him: So what did you get me?
Ron: This. (He handed her the box) Don’t open it yet.
Leila: What if I want to?
Ron: Then I guess you can. But before you open it can you get me something to eat? I’m starving.
Leila ran to the kitchen and grabbed Ron a plate of food.
Leila: here you go.
Ron: Thanks.
When everyone had finished his or her food, it was time to open her presents and cut the cake. She started to open the presents one by one finding presents such as a stuffed animal, clothes and what not. Then it came to Ron’s present. As soon as she saw what it was a big smile appeared on her face. It wasn’t what she really wanted but it was close. He gave her a rose, a crystal rose, one that would last forever.
Ron: I hope you like it. I wanted my gift to last forever so you will never forget a friend like me.
Leila smiled: I won’t forget about you if you don’t forget about me.
Ron smiled and walked over to her and embraced her then whispered in her ear: I could never forget about you.
She loved his present, if only he said what she hoped he would one day say to her. Her feelings for him never really faded away, it was always kept in the dark and never rose to the top. She liked him as a friend but loved him cause he was truly her soul mate. He understood her better than her brothers and most importantly he was always there for her.

He was in his office sitting there restless he closed his eyes and suddenly felt someone gently putting their hands on his shoulder. He grabbed one of the hands and turned around; to his surprise it was Linda. He looked deeply into her eyes and realized that he too was beginning to like her. He didn’t know that if that feeling was “love” or was it just the fact that he admired her personality. Silence was in the air as the two of them were just looking at each other and finally broke the silence.
Ron: The ball is next week. (He still had his hand on hers)
Linda took her hand away: I know.
Ron: Are you tired?
Linda: No, but if you are you can go to asleep since we have an hour break. I’ll wake you up.
Ron: Thanks.
Linda: No problem.
Ron: I’ll sleep on the couch, so you can take my chair for now.
Linda: Ok.
Ron walked over to the couch and lied down. He was tired and confused. There were too many things on his mind but now he just needed to sleep. His eyes became heavy and he soon fell asleep.
Linda, who was sitting on his chair, was watching him sleep. She reminisced what just happened, how he held onto her hand and looked in her eyes. She had a funny feeling inside it was love. She wanted to spend every second with him. Since it was late, no one was roaming the halls, the blind in Ron’s office was down and everything was just dark. She walked over to him and looked at him. She soon bent over and gave him a peck on the forehead. She didn’t know why she did it; she just had the temptation to do so. She quickly walked over to Ron’s seat and sat there until it was time to wake him up.
~That evening~
Ron: Yes! Finally the shift is over, now I have to go find something for Leila or else I won’t be able to see tomorrow’s sunlight.
Linda started laughing.
Ron: Well, I got to go. I’ll see you tomorrow!
Linda: Bye.
Ron got into his car and drove around town looking for the right present for Leila. He knew it was the thought that counts but he still wanted to get her something that she would like, something that he had never bought her before. Then it struck him, a rose. It’s kind of funny how he had never bought her a rose before. It was always something else, something that would last. So what he bought her was…
~At Leila’s House~
All three of her brothers were there along with Tavia, Myolie and Nancy, three of her closest colleagues.
Leila: Myolie, do you know when Ron will be coming?
Myolie: You miss him already?
Leila blushed: No, I just want that present from him.
They all laughed knowing that no matter what Ron gets her she’ll always like it. Then they heard a knock on the door and there he was.
Leila: Why so late?
Ron yawned: My shift just ended and I had to go get you something.
Leila smiled at the sight of him: So what did you get me?
Ron: This. (He handed her the box) Don’t open it yet.
Leila: What if I want to?
Ron: Then I guess you can. But before you open it can you get me something to eat? I’m starving.
Leila ran to the kitchen and grabbed Ron a plate of food.
Leila: here you go.
Ron: Thanks.
When everyone had finished his or her food, it was time to open her presents and cut the cake. She started to open the presents one by one finding presents such as a stuffed animal, clothes and what not. Then it came to Ron’s present. As soon as she saw what it was a big smile appeared on her face. It wasn’t what she really wanted but it was close. He gave her a rose, a crystal rose, one that would last forever.
Ron: I hope you like it. I wanted my gift to last forever so you will never forget a friend like me.
Leila smiled: I won’t forget about you if you don’t forget about me.
Ron smiled and walked over to her and embraced her then whispered in her ear: I could never forget about you.
She loved his present, if only he said what she hoped he would one day say to her. Her feelings for him never really faded away, it was always kept in the dark and never rose to the top. She liked him as a friend but loved him cause he was truly her soul mate. He understood her better than her brothers and most importantly he was always there for her.
